See what solar really saves
in 2026 — no sales pitch
Free calculators for solar panels, batteries, EVs and heat pumps, built on EIA rates, NREL sun data and each state's net-metering rules — updated for the end of the 30% federal solar credit. No signup, no lead forms.
Is there still a federal solar tax credit in 2026?
No — not for a system you buy and own. The 30% Residential Clean Energy Credit (IRC §25D) ended for solar, battery and geothermal systems installed after December 31, 2025, under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (Public Law 119-21, signed July 4, 2025). Leased and PPA systems are different: the installer that owns them can still claim the commercial §48E credit for systems placed in service by the end of 2027.
| Federal incentive | Status for US homeowners |
|---|---|
| 30% solar & battery credit (§25D) | Ended for installs after Dec 31, 2025 |
| Heat pump, insulation, window credit (§25C) | Ended after Dec 31, 2025 |
| New EV credit up to $7,500 (§30D) / used EV credit (§25E) | Ended for vehicles acquired after Sep 30, 2025 |
| Home EV charger credit (§30C) | Ended for chargers placed in service after Jun 30, 2026 |
| Commercial credit for leased/PPA solar (§48E) | Available to system owners through 2027 (may lower lease/PPA prices) |
| State-run home energy rebates (HEAR/HOMES) | Depends on your state's program and remaining funds |
