About Green Energy Calculators
Free, independent calculators and guides that help US homeowners decide whether solar, batteries, EVs and heat pumps make financial sense β with every assumption shown.
What we do
Green Energy Calculators (greenenergycalc.com) publishes 34 free calculators, 50 state solar pages and in-depth guides on residential clean-energy costs. Every estimate is built from public data β U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) electricity rates, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) solar resource data, IRS guidance and the DSIRE incentive database β using formulas documented on our methodology page.
Why it matters in 2026
The 30% federal residential solar credit ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025, and EV and home-efficiency credits ended too. Many estimates online still assume those credits. We rebuilt our calculators and pages around 2026 law and each state's net-metering rules β including telling readers when solar is not likely to pay off quickly in their state.
Our principles
- No lead generation. We never ask for contact details or pass information to installers. Calculations run in your browser.
- Conservative, documented assumptions. Every number states its inputs (rate, sun hours, price per watt, net-metering treatment).
- Independence. We do not accept payment for coverage or rankings. The site is funded by display advertising and a small number of clearly marked affiliate links (for example, portable and off-grid solar kits). Neither influences calculator results or rankings. See our affiliate disclosure.
- Corrections. If you find an error, email us and we will fix it and update the page date.
Editorial team
Content is researched, written and maintained by the Green Energy Calculators editorial team, a small independent team. We use software tools, including AI-assisted drafting, to help research and produce pages; every page is built on the shared calculation model and source list described in our methodology, and policy facts are checked against primary sources (IRS, state agencies, utility tariffs).
We are not a licensed tax, legal or financial adviser, and we do not sell or install equipment.
Editorial policy
- Primary sources first: IRS and Treasury guidance for federal tax rules; EIA for electricity prices; NREL PVWatts for production; DSIRE, state energy offices and utility tariffs for state programs.
- Dated facts: policy-dependent pages show when they were last checked. Current policy check: .
- No fabricated data: we do not publish invented testimonials, user counts or expert personas.
- Not advice: content is for information only. Confirm tax questions with a tax professional and get multiple installer quotes.
